FESTIVAL DETAILS2010 SCHEDULE(updated 8/8/2010)
VISION FOR 2010We have summed up the vision for this year in three words: Worship - Relationships - SimplicityWorship: Worship and celebrating Jesus has been the core of past Festivals and it will continue to be again (He is worthy of our praise!). Festival is about coming and thanking the Lord for what He has done for us over the last year. Relationships: These are a strength we have. We feel called to strengthen what's in the greater body and to build new ones. Simplicity: We are paring down what the Festival has been and taking it down to the "bare bones". Simplifying in volunteers, setup & tear down, meals, finances, speakers and just about every other area. Then, from that pared-down spot, we want to allow God to rebuild this year's Festival in an organic way. We are clearing the slate. The items we felt we were to put on the agenda are worship times (Friday evening and twice on the other two days) and campfire rings. On Saturday and Sunday evening, we will setup several main/designated campfires where facilitated times of worship, sharing, ministry etc. can happen. From there, we will see which person, group or church feels called to rise up and serve the greater group in some way or another. If someone would like to serve in a particular area, we ask that they first go through their church for approval, then come to the Festival team. For example, if someone feels led to fix a meal, then they would first pass the idea by their church leadership. If the leadership confirms the idea, then they would come to us to confirm it. All the responsibility of doing the meal would rest on the one(s) leading it and they would fund it, plan it and carry it out. At this time, we are not planning on using any of the buildings in the park (unless a group would like to rent them). The Rec Center will be availabe for showers, but only on a limited basis. Any volunteers desiring to cook would have to do this in their campground or from some other creative vantage point! Due to these changes, there will be almost no operating budget for this year. This year, campers will be responsible for their own camping fees that are charged by the city. This whole idea is so different that it may be hard to comprehend. Basically if it is not on the schedule, then it is not going to be done unless someone rises up to do it. We are excited to see what arises out of God's people this year. LODGINGThe Festival of Tents provides a unique opportunity to "camp
in community", sharing meals together and fellowshipping
with one another. If you are not the camping type, please consider the following:
